Mosonmagyarovar 2015, Hungary

It has been three years since my last visit in Mosonmagyarovar and it has been a milestone for my modelling carrier ever since. Moson is an event where Europe's finest modellers pile up to show their best projects (modellers from Japan and USA have been also present in the past events). This 3-day event is everything but a normal show for it presents models, shops with merchandise, model workshops and live entertainment. It is a manifestation of modeller's heaven, shortened into a weekend.

Mosonmagyarovar Model Show takes place in a small town called Mosonmagyarovar, Hungary. This city has plenty of cheap hostels / hotels, so my buddy and I choose accomodation in  hotel Minerva. Price was really a bargain -approximately 25€ / night with breakfast! First night was sacrificed for models to stand off nice&shiny.

I never did a model in a hotel room before... :))
Event starts on Saturday but model entries can take place on Friday so you do not have to wait in the crowd either by entering on Friday or filling in the competition model info on online page.

There are two mainstreams of models and each has it's floor - war models are displayed in the lobby, and civil models in the upper floor. There are loads of models and everybody gets his "5 minutes" of glory / fame.

This is a summary of the Slovenian models with "SVM" display stand:

Every model club is allowed to have it's table, where it can display the country's finest. I will focus on the automotive section for now and show some of the models that were impresive!

You could see all sorts of vehicles in the automotive section, including motorbikes and buldozers!

...in the meanwhile some lucky couple got married and there were also some Moson Model Show "military personell" for spicing-up of the day!

There isn't all about the models... Hungary has loads of restaurants and local specalitites like this sezame seed fried chicken with rice,

,and this spicy stew with grilled potatoes. Yummy!

Let's get back to models - there were really loads of dioramas, vignettes and other models to see!

Of course, the main attraction was in the lobby, where the most of the "world war" era models were gathered!

There was also WIP (Work In Progress) section for military models

They were amazing!

Some of them were unbelievable...the following dioarama had dimensions approx. 2m x 1m x 0.3m...

Something as refreshing as a cool breeze:

We had to take some time off the models and take a short trip to Bratislava (Slovakia), which is only a few kilometers down the local road, towards north.

...tourists...

Civilian and military models were not the only models to admire. There were also figures and statues of different themes and sizes. Some of them really caught some attention!

This really is an awesome show with loads of features and interesting people. This event is and will be a trendsetter in the modelling world, on EU soil. The size and the quality of the event is evolving and growing each year, so this is an event which should not be missed by any enthusiastic or professional modeller.
